After 10 years on the market dominating as the number one game of its class, the Big Buck Hunter series has culminated with the new Big Buck HD. The basic elements of the game are the same - after choosing the type of animal to hunt you pick from one of five areas and as the level begins you have three bucks that will appear to take down (as well as some critters). Cows will run around to get in the way and if any of those are hit, the level is automatically over and you go onto the next. After five rounds, you then play a random bonus round.
How Big Buck HD changes it up is first through the obvious - the graphics. They have been updated to fit in with modern effects and they are so good that the game stands well above other arcade titles on the market. Running at a solid 60 FPS and at 1920x1080p resolution with high geometric details, high resolution textures and other special effects it has no problem standing out.
On top of all that, the game features the following game modes:
-Big Buck: the standard mode already described that can be played by 1-4 players by taking turns
-Shootout: Where 2 players can play against each other at the same time. 4 players can play as two teams.
-Showdown: Brand new mode that is online only, where up to four players in different locations compete against each other. As you start you can play normal mode while the game attempts to find other active players. You need a Big Buck account to play.
-Bonus Only: If you just want to play from a few bonus rounds that is where this mode comes in.
